Solid Golf
Privacy Policy
Solid Golf ("Solid Golf", "we", "us") is a golf statistics app, run as a registered Australian business (ABN 16 377 417 264), that helps you track your rounds and see where you gain and lose strokes. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, where it's kept, and the choices you have. We've written it to be read, not skimmed past — if anything is unclear, email us.
The short version
- Your rounds, shots and golf statistics are stored on your phone, not on our servers.
- To create an account we keep your email address and a sign-in ID, through Google's Firebase service.
- We don't sell your information, show ads, or track your location.
- You can delete your account and all your rounds at any time, from inside the app.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you sign in, we receive your email address and a unique user ID. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we may also receive the name on that account. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive Apple's private relay address instead of your real one. If you sign in with email, your password is handled by Firebase Authentication — we never see or store it.
Your golf profile and rounds
The app stores the information you enter about your game: your current and goal handicap, gender (used to choose the right statistical comparisons), the clubs in your bag, your preferences (such as distance units and comparison baseline), your onboarding answers, and every round you record — courses, holes, pars, scores, shots, distances, lies, clubs, penalties and, if you use the Mental Scorecard, whether you were committed to each shot.
This information is stored only on your device. It isn't uploaded to our servers, and we can't see it.
Subscription information
If you start a free trial or subscription, the purchase is made through Apple's App Store. Apple handles your payment details — we never receive your card or billing information. We use RevenueCat to check which subscription you have; it receives an anonymous app user ID and your purchase history from Apple, but not your name or payment details.
Feature requests
If you submit or vote on a feature request, the request's title and description, the time it was submitted, your user ID, and your votes are stored on our servers (Google Cloud Firestore) so that other Solid Golf users can see and vote on requests. Please don't include personal information in a request.
Technical information
The app downloads its typeface (Inter) from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your device's IP address when the font is fetched. Google's own privacy policy applies to that request.
What we don't collect
We don't collect your location, contacts, photos, health data, or advertising identifiers. We don't use analytics or advertising trackers, and we don't track you across other apps or websites. If we add crash reporting or analytics in future, we'll update this policy first and tell you in the app.
2. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and let you sign in.
- To calculate your strokes gained and other statistics — this happens on your device.
- To provide your subscription and confirm what you've paid for.
- To show, sort and count feature requests.
- To respond when you contact us.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't use it for advertising.
3. Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers who process information for us, only to run the app:
- Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) — accounts and feature requests.
- Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple — if you choose to sign in that way.
- Apple (App Store) — downloads, payments and subscriptions.
- RevenueCat — subscription status.
- Google Fonts — the app's typeface.
Each provider handles information under its own privacy policy. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.
4. Where your information is stored
Your golf data stays on your device. Account and feature-request information is stored by Google Firebase, and subscription information by RevenueCat and Apple, on servers that may be located outside Australia, including in the United States. We use providers that apply strong security and privacy protections to the information they hold.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. Your golf data stays on your device until you delete it, delete your account, or delete the app. Feature requests remain visible to other users after they're submitted; ask us and we'll remove any you've made. Apple and RevenueCat keep purchase records as the law requires.
6. Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your sign-in account and all the rounds stored on your device, and can't be undone. Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription — cancel that in your Apple ID's subscription settings. Deleting the app also removes the golf data stored on your device.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it, or object to or restrict how we use it. Most of your information is on your device and under your control already. For anything else, email us and we'll respond within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for exercising these rights.
If you're in Australia and unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can contact us first, and then complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au). If you're in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Security
Information sent between the app and our service providers is encrypted in transit, and sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and keep your device locked.
9. Children
Solid Golf isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy if the app or the law changes. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
